Kitesurfing is when you use a kites to harness the winds power whilst strapped to a board which propels you across the water. This sport is currently taking the UK by storm, growing every more popular from just a few people in the late 1990's to over 7000 now in 2007.
A kitesurfer in the UK needs a kite which normally ranges from 6m squared, right up to 18m squared for those light wind summer days. They will also need a good 5mm x 3mm wetsuit to handle the cold North Sea. A kiteboard is required as well as a bar and set of lines to fly the kite.
